Rag Tag Terrans
The sand of the desert hurts my feet as I travel towards the Council temple where my brethren are holed up. A battle rages on about twenty feet in my direction. The marines are edging backwards as the hydras spit acid at them. I smile and walk towards the nearest hydra. My warp blade flies swiftly and silently, splitting the hydra down the middle. The hydras do not seem to notice their split brother. Laughing cruelly, I take another step up and slice downward, missing the hydra's head and hitting its tail instead. It turns suddenly and I bring the blade back skyward in a fatal swoop, lopping off the hydra's head.

Now the others have begun to notice their brothers dying among them. The marines begin to push forward now, aware that an unseen force is helping them. The remaining hydras hissed at the marines before turning to flee from the battle. The marines cheered and walked back to their camp over the dune. They were a rag tag group, most of them seemed to be greenthornes. Some of them appeared to have more experience than most of my own warriors. They sat among a small fire, trying to stay warm in the cold desert night. The smoke from one of their cigarettes gave away my presence.

They turned and looked at me. I winked, shut off my internal cloak and looked at them all. Some smiled, others, the more hardened ones, kept one hand on their gun. I sat down and closed my eyes, speaking to them telepathically. I showed them mental pictures of an abandoned terran base not far from here. I spent many days there as a child, taking apart the weapons. They talked of their mission, it was a routine assignment. They were supposed to check a small outpost but then they were ambushed by hydras. One of them, Antone, tried to make contact with their base but the only sound that came through clearly was a female scream. It was then that the group had decided that they would have to depend on themselves and that anything else was just an extra advantage.
