The Cerebrate
After some well deserved drinking, my new terran friends begin to fall asleep. They have their work cut out for them in the morning. The terran base was still in bad shape last I time I saw it but it was still able to be rebuilt. SCVs were still operational and there were still plenty of ammuntion boxes laying around. I wandered back to the area where the battle had taken place. The tracks of the Zerg were still visible in the clear night. Following them led me over a couple sand dunes and into the heart of the zerg infestation in the region.

I could not believe my eyes, four sunken colonies, two hatcheries, and a zerg cerebrate lay before me. Other zerg buildings were being mutated further back but the front of the base was guarded well enough on its own. Hydras patrolled the outermost border with two zerglings per. My cloak was on but I could not hide the smell of the zerg blood dried on my feet. The wafting smell reached one of the patrolling parties and they began to search in my direction for the killer of their brother.

I walked forward, not paying them any mind. The zergling turned and clawed at the air where I was standing. Bringing back my blade, I sliced open the first hydra and the zergling turned around sharply. I stopped and watched it look around madly. The other hydra turned and glared at the moving air and spat at the ground. My foot felt like it was on fire, I turned on the hydra and brought my blade down on its head. The zergling leapt into the air and landed on top of me. Another patrol had stopped to look at their brother zergling slashing at the air while floating.

Damned zergling kept slashing at me but luckily my shield kept me safe. Thank goodness for the new technology behind my tribe's shields. The ability to have them contour to our body helped greatly for older shields are bubble shaped and made melee combat harder. Taking one foot and kicking the zergling in the chest, I rolled back onto my feet and circled it, watching its head turn trying to find me. Its own blood was dripping from between its jaws and this proceded to only make it angrier. Shooting forth its tongue, it tried to taste me to give it a target again. I brought my blade under its legs, crippling it then downward to finish it off.

Now the other hydras were beginning to pick up on another presence in the area. After witnessing the death of the zergling, they began to creep forward believing that staying as a group would provide better cover. I was bleeding now from a wound in my shoulder, pulling out the claw I wondered how it managed to get itself embedded in me. A quick check of the shield provided the answer, the zergling had sliced through the shield controls in its rampage. The approaching patrol was getting closer, looking for any ripples in the air. They could smell the blood of a non-zerg attacker now.
